"IDIOMS"

The first video, which I produced is entitled "Idioms", and is approximately 33 minutes long. This video can assist both the experienced and novice interpreters in making better word choices when voicing for the Deaf, and it will also clue you in on some signs or slangs that only Deaf people tend to use.

After presenting several workshops about "Idioms", I was asked by numerous interpreters to produce a second video. So I made "Idioms, Part 2". This tape is approximately 44 minutes long and includes twice as many idioms as the first video.

What's helpful is that these tapes also have open captioning along with the Slangs/Idioms- so you can see the actual English idioms below as I give a demostration of the way Deaf people sign them.

Here is an example:
A Deaf person signs with right hand in a "Letter B"(straight hand) and stresses strongly with his face expression and body language he is signing "straight" with the right hand. Emphasis is on facial expression and context as to suggest that we, the Deaf, do not want the interpreter to simply say "Straight". (As in signing "drive straight" for example.) The idiom that could convey this message WHICH IS IN OPEN CAPTION would be "As the crow flies".

I also offer the idioms in a special two dvd in one dvd case as a SET!! Shown here on the left side. (Color will vary and most of the time is black)
